Results of April Fools Day.
Funny, Work, jokes| April 2nd, 2008So I bought some doughnuts and got a second box. I had stopped at Walmart ahead of time and picked up some play-do. I formed the play-do into doughnut rings and put them in the empty box. I put the faux-dough box on top and waited.
I must say it worked rather well. Everyone that went for a doughtnut had to do a double take before they realized what it was. One person actually thought they were still edible. Which I suppose they are, they may taste bad but they are at least non-toxic. Got a pretty good reaction from everyone. Nice middle of the rode prank that didn’t offended anyone.
Here’s a pic of the prank doughnuts. Yes someone actually took one.

Some people apparently go blind and their sense of smell becomes inoperative when the word ‘doughnuts’ is uttered. Even if you were fooled into picking one up, you’d think that Play Doh smell would clue them before that first big bite.

Nice one. Must say though, the fake doughnuts aren’t all that convincing …guess thats the limitations of working with the play-doh range of colours.

Yeah the smell did make it obvious, especially if the box had just been opened.
And the point was not be to be convincing, just entertaing. I work with a bunch of computer programmers so they can appreciate the lack of subtility. Besides real looking fake doughnuts takes more time and I am a lazy bastard.
