The Giants win, but the Pat’s payoff.
Uncategorized| February 21st, 2008The Superbowl has come and gone again. This year it was a huge upset as the Patriots (undefeated going in) lost to the Giants, (which if you stay even a little up to date on sports is even more odd in that Plaxico Burress predicted the score would be 17-13 and it was actually 17-14).
Anyways, at any major final for any professional sport there is always a loser. Assuming everything is legal and on the level there is no way of accurately predicting the winner. So manufacturers are forced to produced thousands of shirts, hats, banners, and so on for both possible outcomes. You always see the winning team in their respective “winning” gear less then 10 minutes after the win. But what happens to the loser’s now misprinted shirts? Typically they are donated and handed out in third world countries. “Winning” Super Bowl shirts end up in Nicaragua
Now for the most part it is probably safe to assume that they do not care who won what event over here in the U.S., but perhaps they should. Just think what would happen if a few of those losing-winner proclomation shirts made it on ebay. I would think they would become a valuable collectors item. Although they may be taken down rather quickly by the marketing machine of ebay, the manufacturer and the losing team. I am no ebay expert but i would think there would be alot of interest in the auction if it were allowed to proceed. So if you lived in Nicaragua which would you rather have? A shirt for the losing team, or easily $50.00 US?
