I am a child of the 80’s. - The Sunday Stream.

So today’s stream is al ittle late. But here goes, so grab a paddle.
I am a child of the 80’s. I am writing this as I watch my recording of Knight Rider. Makes me wonder when the new A-Team or MacGyver will come out. I grew up watching tv and I still watch just as much if not more now. And no, my tastes have not changed much. I still love watching cartoons and I still love watching cheesy tv. Sure the production quaility is much higher, but the script and acting are about the same level as the original. The car is cool, but not sure it will be enough to save Ford. And Deroit keeps taking more hits as it had one of the highest forcloser rates. Glad I have a good job and that my wife, as a nurse, will pretty much always have a job. And unlike most other people we know, we live within our means and purchased a home that was big enough for us to grow a little and was well within our price range. We saw no reason to max out the loan just for a bigger house. Besides then we would hae to clean it, and neither of us likes to clean much. In fact there is a nice pile of laundry sitting next to me waiting to be folded. And yet I sit here typing and watching Knight Rider. Man I still need to catch up on my Naruto and Bleach. Which my wife hates. But it keeps my young. Also a reason I am looking forward to kids, then I will have an excuse to watch even more cartoons. And Yes I even like those Disney Cartoons. Like Mulan, which is where Christina got her big break. It is amazing how far she has gone in her life since then. Makes me wonder how far I will go. I am hoping to be retired by the time I am 35. If I can win the lotto this week which is up to over 220 million us dollars. Granted that is not as much as it once was compared to the rest of the world, that is still a very substantial amount of money. Speaking of money, I should head off to bed so I can wake up and go to work to make some.

I so know where you are coming from with the house. We bought one that cost 1/2 as much as our mortgage line was approved for, mostly because we had rented a really big house and discovered that I didn’t clean really well. Not one of my fav things. Plus we tended to buy the stuff to fill it up, which wasn’t good for our budget either. When we move from TX to WA this year, we plan to go even smaller…but I want a house in the dunes on the Pacific Ocean (in a depressed area so we can afford it), ’cause I’m not trading in my TX sun for anything less than the Pacific Ocean outside my door.

If everyone else thought that way, then the housing bubble bursting would not be so bad. Unfortunately everyone not only wants to keep up with the Jones’s, they want to better them. This leads to bigger houses with bigger loans they can’t afford.

I too, am a child of the 80’s. In fact, I remember having a crush on Richard Dean Anderson form MacGuyver. I enjoy the older shows. The sexual content is not bad and my kids can watch it. Plus, it gives you some great ideas if you are ever in a ‘tight’ situation! Thanks for the reminder of great tv. God Bless.
