Yes honey, the beer is more important then you are.
Common Sense| February 6th, 2008
Here in the south (for those who don’t know me, which is just bout everyone, I am in the Atlanta, GA area of the good o’le US of A) we take our drinking very seriously. Even more then the safety and security of our own children. In fact we prefer to strap in the beer and put the child seat in the trunk. God forbid anything happen to that 24-pack of bud. That would just ruin the night. Besides having it strapped in next to me makes it easier for me to grap one as I drive.
True this happend in Florida which is not really part of the south, but still reflects poorly on the rest of the South. To think that it is important for your beer to be buckled up but not the 16 month old is simply stupid. I should probably add a stupid parenting award to the Stultus Awards. I am surprised they didn’t have a car seat to put the beer in, as that would make it even safer.
Let us review, the beer was strapped in, the child was in the back seat not buckled, they found two “pipes”, the driver refused the breathalyzer, and she had no idea why the child was not buckled up. Sounds like a perfect nanny to me. Bet she is a barrel of monkeys come Friday night.

Geez…unreal. Of course I grew up in a time when no one wore seat belts…so I sometimes think our society is a little bubble-wrapped. But still…that’s pretty irrisponsible.

(laughing) You know, Florida does reflect poorly on the rest of us southerners. I’ve never thought about that before…LOL And this only proves it! I tried to find the story behind this mother, woman, nannie person from your link but I couldn’t find it.
That’s o.k. though because your post is hilarious and I love your blog. Thank you for answering my weekly Tuesday’s Question post today and for adding me as a favorite Entrecard. I added you too! It is very nice to meet you. You’re one of those writers that prove Mark Twain was right when he said; “Southerners talk music.”
Have a great evening~

Our society may be bubble-wrapped, but i always like popping the bubbles so there are bound to be a few flat places in the wrap.

Ann > Thanks for adding me as a favorite. And thanks for the complement. I never considered myself to be a great writer, and the fact that my college english classes consisted of watching movies instead of reading books didn’t help much either.
