Facing a probe
Common Sense, Funny, Government| January 15th, 2008If you kick someone that is assault and should be delt with through the usual channels assuming the victim wishes to press charges. It does not matter where it happens it is still a form of assault. Weapons used, location, and atmosphere can affect the degree of the assault. Such as assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, assault and battery, domestic abuse, hate crime and so on. The topic in general is not traditionally funny or stupid but is in fact something that should be taking very seriously. At least until the government steps in and decides to spend money to form a panel to investigate the power they have over investigating the act and assigning punishment for said act.
Lawmaker Faces Probe for Kicking Photog
Is it really necessary to form a committee to investigate this? There were plenty of lawmakers present to witness the event; all the photographer needs to do is decide whether or not to press charges. The government should already have in place rules and regulations and laws to handle when someone is charged and convicted of a crime. There should be no need to form this committee and waste tax payer dollars. If the photographer decides not to press charges, do they (the rest of the “lawmakers”) have a right to punish the offender? We are talking about adults here, not children in a school. Should he be held accountable yes, but if the photographer decides not to press charges then the consequences are left to the people the lawmaker represents, such as not re-electing him, assuming it is an elected position. Should he have is pay docked? Should he be suspended? These questions should have already be defined and answered long before this problem, if not then they are not really doing their (the lawmakers) job.
Personally I think they should all face the probe, a good ol’ fashioned alien anal probe. That would make them think twice about screwing the people they supposedly represent. I bet he wouldn’t have kicked the photographer if he knew what was coming. And it would save a substantial amount of tax payer dollars if they were made to pay for their own probe. Otherwise call the police and let them deal with it and then they should follow their own procedures, rules, regulations, laws or whatever they wish to call them when he is both charged and convicted or not.
